Windows 11 Update Failed, then Windows Update failed
- AnonymousJan 17, 2022
It seems that on many computers there is this problem!

So downloading here has nothing to do with it.

Updates worked fine before I accepted the upgrade offer. The system (other than Windows update) works flawlessly. If I am forced to do a clean install can I do that with Windows 11 directly? I was not given installation media when I bought my computer.

RonLyster (probably a bit late, but) The standard fix for this type of windows update error, is to stop the windows update service, then go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and delete everything. The start the windows update service and look for updates again. Has worked more than 40 times for me on various machines.

EvilJesternz Not too late at all. I'm giving it a try right now. Hope it works!
UPDATE: Unfortunately, it didn't work. After doing what you suggested I repeatedly get this: "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0xc1900101)." Darn!
Looks like I'll be with Windows 10 for awhile.

- RonLysterSep 27, 2021Brass ContributorYes, I did have Bit-locker turned on. I'll try that. Thanks!
