Ok, I have worked this out... I have a Dell XPS 7590 and this was driving me crazy... All of the advice below, although helpful on a very basic level, is unlikely to fix this for the majority, as it is still a relatively new issue, and the suggested solution is limited based on installation files already being locally available on your laptop or in the microsoft store.
What you need to do is go to the drivers and updates page of your laptop manufacturer. Easy to find with a quick online search.
In the case of Dell, it gave me the options to search my computer for missing updates and then enabled you to download anything key that was missing. This did not initially include audio drivers, but there is also an option for manually searching their available installation files/drivers.
I typed in sound and it came up with 5 or so files for realtek, all of which I installed. 10 minutes and a couple of restarts later, sound was back in action.
One thing to bear in mind - Make sure when searching you change the operating system to Windows 11, as the default is Windows 10.
Hope that helps!

Hi all,
same problem here with my ASUS Zenbook 14 since 7.Nov. upgrade to Win 11 - no sound from inbuilt loudspeakers, microphone not working either. I tried all the solutions suggested here in the thread, and other options from MS and ASUS tech support, incl realteck driver update(s) and rolling back to Win 10. No success...!
Now I'm back to Win 11 with a still-silent laptop, hoping for miracles or a smart community member to come up with a fix. Hope springs eternally...
