Windows 11 insider preview 22593.1 (ni_release) failing
2 previous updates were also failing with the same error. I was hoping 22593.1 will install but I got the same 0xc1900101 error:
Did anyone find a solution to this besides a clean install?
Thank you,
Paul

paulgeanta I was having this issue myself, I've been able to find a solution, but its not likely to help too many others.
I had a bit of a broken "StoreMi" implementation going on between my NVME and hard drive, I went into the device manager, removed the StoreMi entries from the storage controller section (along with removing the drivers).
System failed to boot a few times (not surprising after removing those drivers), but I was able to get it back up through the startup repair.
afterwards I was able to install the update.
I didn't have any issues with previous updates (in the beta channel) but it seems like this one is very sensitive to these issues.
Hope this helps someone
- kbalintCopper ContributorGents,
I finally managed to install 22593.1! 😄
1) I needed to remove my usb-bluetooth stick or else I got GSOD: SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION;
EXCEPTION; 2) Unplug my second monitor with Intel UHD630, or else GSOD: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED;
3) I needed to UNINSTALL my printer driver (HP M2020) or else I got GSOD: SYSTEM SERVICE
4) physically disassemble my pc and remove my secondary gigabit network card (TG-3468) or else I got DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL rt640x64.sys
WHAT THE HELL, MICROSOFT!!!!!!!! All these devices was previously installed via the offical ISO/ Windows Update!!!!!!!!!!
And now I'm stuck with the Settings not opening AT ALL, and display settings says:
"ms-settings:display
This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page."
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY - eduvz23Copper ContributorI have the same inconvenience as everyone else, however it reaches 61% and stops, it's just the installation, because other drivers are installed normally. any solution?

- Jalopy_JoeCopper ContributorI tried your suggestion (earlier), and it didn't impact the problem. However, a day or two later (and a couple of reboots/startups) I left my PC for awhile, and when I returned it had "auto-installed" the latest update and asked if I wanted to reboot. Well, it was late, and I said "yes" and when it completed the install, "22H2 (OS Build 22616.1) was up and running beautifully! So, I'm thinking turning off MSMQ and WAITING (or restarting a few times) may have resolved my upgrade issue. In any event, thanks for the advice!

alexpol97 I was SO thrilled to see this comment and the "satisfied customers" who responded with feedback, but sadly it did not present a solution for me. I've pretty much given up on finding a "fix" that will allow me to install these periodic updates. I'll probably just wait until a final version is available and then do a "clean" install. That will be time consuming, as all the apps, drivers and whatnot will be an ongoing effort for quite some time afterwards...

alexpol97 Thanks. It worked for me also. But, how to remove the the caption- "evaluation copy" at the right side down corner.
- soumyaseshCopper ContributorI have faced the same failure issue and now I am facing another problem with windows defender threat service restarting

Hello paulgeanta i was also having this error before
you just have to delete the windows update files by: C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribution, just delete the DOWNLOAD folder after that run windows update troubleshooter, then run sfc scan via administrative permission in cmd command
sfc /scannow
then just try it again
if it fails try the update in clean boot via
win + r, type msconfig
then services hide all microsoft services then disable all
then restart your pc and try it again
Thanks!

I did the scan thing and deleting the distribution folder but it still hangs at 14 percent then fails.
I nearly killed my PC trying to update.Leaving it for now until a new fix is made by MS.
- Alok_SahCopper ContributorDid you try the clean boot step

Now sorted thanks. Found a post on another site which suggested running the System/ Troubleshooter/ Other Trouble Shooters/ Windows Update which found a couple of things requiring attention and I was then able to install the update. Its a large download and the update isn't quick either.
- ssorgsCopper ContributorDetected and fixed an error on mine, but install still failed after "Working on updates 60%"
- qaab101Copper ContributorHello I had the same problem also and this is what I tried. There was an experience pack to download, after I installed it, 22593.1 has installed. If it has not worked, I don't know.

I have the same x1900101 for a month lately. When I check the Windows Update etl logs, it says 15003 as an ErrorCode.
So far I've got to a point, where the Start menu was not working after a failed update, so I did a clean install from w10 iso -> w11 (wu) because even the 22593 DEV ISO failed to install 😄
So now I'm on 10.0.22000.593 and stuck AGAIN, it is so frustrating.
The GSOD error always something else, and usually comes up after 87% of progress.

Tried 20 times,same error.
Now it's taking over my life this update lol trying to get it to install.
