Windows 11 Calendar Widget "Sorry, events from this account can't be displayed"
- Sep 07, 2021
MoseySlu lakshaya_kaushik If you go into the widgets menu and click on your profile photo, it should pull up a menu to select what widgets you want in the widgets menu. On the top right corner of that dialog menu does it show that you are using an outlook email or some other email?
See it shows this when I use my Gmail account,(Gmail Account)
But when I use my outlook account it works again,
(Outlook Account)
Fortunately, there is an easy way to switch accounts. Though it is a bit of a faff and it doesn't really make sense why Microsoft is so ridiculous. Anyways, You have to hit the 'Sign in with a local account instead' button, it will then verify it is actually you making the changes via a password/pin input, after you do that it will take you to a page where you make a new password (I would recommend writing it down just in case you need it), Then hit 'Sign out and finish'.
After you do that the computer will sign you out and change your account data, the way I'm saying this sounds really edgy but it works. You don't lose any files this is just changing what account the computer belongs to. Getting back onto your computer will be the same password that you regularly use, I use a 4-digit pin and it works whether I'm using a local account or a Microsoft account.
When you sign back it (It takes a bit longer since the account you're signing into isn't stored in the cache yet), you have to go back to 'Change account settings' and now hit the button that used to say sign in with a local account but now says 'Sign in with a Microsoft account Instead' it will then ask you to sign in to your Microsoft account. If you don't have a Microsoft account, you can create one by hitting the ‘Create One!’ link (You just have to make sure that the email ends in ‘@outlook.com’). After you sign in it will have to put in your Microsoft account password and then verify that it's you making the changes again via password/pin.
After you do that it will change your account to have the Outlook account and voila! You now are able to use the Outlook Calendar widget that is connected to your Outlook email. if it doesn't immediately update or tells you that the information is unavailable, you just have to go back to the widgets slide out, click on your profile photo, and then hit 'Sign out'. Then hit the 'Sign in as...' and it'll have updated to your current email.
Sorry it took so long to send this out to ya, I spent a lot of time on it and I had other obligations.
This fixed several problems actually. And didn't prevent adding gmail to any apps.
