A very common reason is that after Windows update, it will keep the previous installation files, which may take up tens of gigabytes of space in the long run, and is one of the main reasons why the C drive suddenly becomes full.
How to check why c drive is suddenly full
- Press Win + R to open Run window, type cleanmgr and press Enter.
- Select C disk, click OK.
- Click Clean up system files and select C drive again.
- Find Windows Update Cleanup in the file list, check it, and you can also check Temporary Files Delivery Optimization Files, etc.
- Click OK to delete these redundant files and free up space on C drive.
Regularly cleaning up Windows Update residuals in this way can free up space on the C Disk in time, and prevent the C Disk from being filled up again due to the continuous accumulation of redundant files after subsequent system updates.
