What is the best way to convert webp to jpg on Windows?

Hi,

I’m currently working on a project and have encountered a bit of a problem. I’ve downloaded a large number of images in WebP format, but I need them to be in JPG format for compatibility with the software I’m using.

I’m using a Windows PC and am not sure what the best method is to convert WebP images to JPG. I’ve come across a few online webp converters, but I’m hesitant to use them because of the file size and quantity.

Ideally, I prefer a solution that I can use offline and that allows for batch processing since I have quite a few images to convert. Appreciate any recommendations for reliable software or methods that you’ve personally used.

Using the command prompt to convert WebP to JPG is definitely a powerful option. If you mess something up (like a typo in your command), it can lead to errors, and figuring out what went wrong can be a bit of a headache. I once spent way too long trying to figure out why a command wasn’t working, only to realize I had forgotten to put a space somewhere.

When it comes to tweaking settings (like quality, DPI, etc.), the command line can be a bit limiting without knowing the right options. I use my image editor for adjusting details like contrast and saturation after conversion, which isn’t something you get with a default command.

Haha, indeed, if you want to do webp to jpg conversion using the command line, you really have to be very careful about the details, especially spaces, parameters, etc. I also struggled with the command line before, but I missed a symbol and the conversion failed. It took me a whole day to find the problem. The worst thing is that if you want to adjust the details of the image, such as contrast or saturation, you have to go to another editor to handle it, which is really inefficient.

If you frequently do this kind of webp to jpg conversion, it feels more worry-free to find a tool that can directly handle image quality and DPI. Have you ever considered switching to a one-stop tool to directly save the subsequent editing steps?

Zevhu  Unfortunately, Microsoft Paint does not have a built-in feature to convert WebP images to JPG. Paint is a basic image editing software that primarily focuses on editing and manipulating existing images, rather than converting between file formats.

WebP is a format specific to Google, and it's not supported by Paint or other standard image editing software. If you need to convert a WebP image to JPG, you'll need to use a third-party software or online tool that specifically supports WebP conversions, as I mentioned in my previous answer.

However, if you're looking for a simple way to convert WebP to JPG without installing any additional software, you can try using the Windows Photo Viewer or the built-in Convert API in Windows 10.

Zevhu Microsoft Paint, also known as MS Paint, is a simple image editing and conversion software developed by Microsoft. It was first introduced in the 1980s and has since become a basic yet popular tool for creating and editing images on Windows.

To convert WebP to JPG free with the Paint app, open the WebP image in Microsoft Paint. Paint natively supports WebP files on Windows 10 and later. Once the image is open, click on "File" and then "Save as." Now, select "JPEG (*.jpg; *.jpeg; *.jpe; *.jfif)" from the dropdown menu. Choose your desired save location and file name, then click "Save."

However, you can only convert one webp image to jpg at one time!

MS Paint is indeed a long-standing tool, and it is quite convenient to use it to convert webp to jpg. However, it can only convert one at a time, which is a bit slow. If you have a lot of WebP images to process, this method feels a bit like running a marathon at a snail's pace! Have you ever considered trying a batch conversion tool? This way you don't have to click one by one, which will be much more efficient!

Using Windows Photo app on Windows 11 or Windows 10. Right-click the WebP file and select "Open with" > "Photos." Click on the three dots (ellipsis) in the top right corner, select "Save as," and then choose JPG as the output format. Select your desired folder and save the file. This will help you convert .webp to jpg for free on Windows PC.
