What do I do if my acer laptop is stuck on the loading screen?
Hi all,
Ran into a weird issue today. My Acer laptop powers on, shows the logo, then just stuck on the loading screen forever. No error message, no progress. Left it like that for quite a while but nothing changed.
Not very experienced with troubleshooting stuff like this, so a bit hesitant to try random fixes and make it worse. Haven't installed anything new recently, so not sure what triggered it. Just hoping there is a simple way to fix acer laptop stuck on loading screen without losing files.
Model: Acer Aspire 5 (Windows 11 25H2)

Running a System File Check (SFC) is a useful step if you are going to fix Acer loading screen stuck issues. This process scans your Windows system files for corruption or missing files and repairs them automatically, which can resolve many boot-related problems.
How to run a System File Check to fix Acer loading screen stuck
1. Access the Command Prompt with Administrator Rights
- Press Windows key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin).
- If prompted by User Account Control, click Yes to grant admin permissions.
2. Run the System File Checker
In the Command Prompt window, type the following command:
sfc /scannow
- Press Enter.
- The System File Checker will now start scanning your system files. This process may take several minutes.
3. Wait for the Scan to Complete
- Do not close the Command Prompt window until the verification reaches 100%.
- If any corrupted or missing files are found, Windows will automatically repair them.

Booting in Safe Mode can be a helpful troubleshooting step when dealing with issues like the Acer loading screen getting stuck. Here's how it can help.
When your Acer's loading screen gets stuck, it can be frustrating, especially if you're trying to access your PC for work or personal reasons. One potential solution to fix Acer loading screen stuck is to boot your computer in Safe Mode. Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that allows your computer to boot with a minimal set of drivers and services, which can help you identify and potentially fix the issue causing the loading screen to get stuck.
Here's how to boot in Safe Mode to possibly fix Acer loading screen stuck:
1. Restart your computer.
2. As the Acer logo appears, press the F8 key repeatedly. This should bring up the Advanced Boot Options menu.
3. Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and press Enter. Your computer will boot in Safe Mode.
4. Once you're in Safe Mode, try booting up normally. If the loading screen doesn't get stuck, you may have successfully identified and bypassed the issue.
5. If the issue persists in Safe Mode, try updating your system's drivers. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues like a stuck loading screen.
6. If updating drivers doesn't work, you might need to perform a System Restore to a point before the issue began. This can help revert your system to a working state.

Method 1: Disabling Secure Boot and Fast Boot
- Enter BIOS Settings: Press the key that opens the BIOS settings (usually F2, F12, Del, or Esc) when you start your laptop.
- Navigate to Advanced Settings: Look for the advanced settings or boot options section.
- Disable Secure Boot: Make sure Secure Boot is disabled. This allows you to boot from non-Microsoft operating systems and devices.
- Disable Fast Boot: Disable Fast Boot if it's enabled. This prevents your laptop from quickly booting up and sometimes prevents it from loading completely.
- Save and Exit BIOS: Save your changes and exit the BIOS settings. The laptop should now boot normally.
Method 2: Clearing the CMOS to fix Acer loading screen stuck
- Disconnect the Power and Battery: Unplug the power cord and remove the battery from your Acer laptop. If it's a laptop, you'll need to remove the battery for this to work.
- Clear the CMOS: Locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard. It's usually a small button or jumper cap. Press the button or remove the jumper cap to clear the CMOS. Please be careful not to damage any components.
- Replace the Battery and Power Cord: Put the battery back in and connect the power cord.
- Boot Your Laptop: Turn on your laptop and see if it boots normally.
