Unable to save to desktop. No desktop option in user account menu.

As with a similar thread from months ago, the normal user account menu doesn't show the option for saving to desktop.
That user eventually suggested clicking on the Onedrive folder, and selecting desktop from there.
I did that, but it didn't work.
And like the other thread, this has nothing to do with the Edge browser.
The desktop option doesn't exist for multiple programs i've installed, including firefox and MWsnap.
