Unable to install any updates since 18875

The last update that I have been able to install is 18875.  I get an error message saying that my computer is not yet ready for Windows 10 and I must wait for it to become ready.  I have read on some other forums that if you have a USB hard drive installed that this can prevent the update from installing.  I have disconnected all of the USB drives as well as anything else that is connected via USB except for my keyboard and mouse.  I have now received this error on 18800 and now I am getting the same message when trying to upgrade to 18890.  Does anyone know of a workaround to get past this?
