Unable to download updates and install apps from Microsoft store.

I am unable to install updates as it keeps loading and then eventually ends on retry. I also tried to update apps from the Microsoft app store it ended the same. Additionally, my laptop audio has also stopped working. it does not play anything from anywhere however systems show that everything is working fine.

if anyone can help me. please I am all ears to your suggestions. please note that I can't re-install my Windows as I can't lose my files and so on.
