The new modern Run dialog (Win+R) looks terrible and too bulky

I am a windows 11 fan and I love modern, clean design. however, the new test version of the run dialog (the optional "Modern Run" toggle found in Settings -> System -> Advanced) is a disaster. It is bloated, way too wide, and looks ugly. the classic Run dialog was perfect because of its minimalism. please overhaul this design or scrap it completely.

  • I've been using Windows 11 for a long time and am overall a fan of the modern clean design approach that Microsoft has been taking. The UI alterations are pretty much considered and cohesive. The new experimental “Modern Run” dialog (optional switch in Settings → System → Advanced) on the other hand, I don't understand. To me it's an unwarranted departure from the idea of the classic Run dialog. The original Run box was just the right thing since it was quick, light and unobtrusive. It had one task to perform and it did a good job at that. It's unnecessarily wide and fat, and the excess design elements don't really seem to provide anything much in the way of new functionality. Rather, it seems like a lot of “stuff” for something that could be as light as possible. Speed and simplicity should be paramount for a tool which people use for quick commands and shortcuts, rather than visual redesign. The modern version seems to slow down that experience visually and mentally at this time. I would just like to see a full redesign to have the same compactness, or to just stick with the old Run dialog without making it more compact. If a system tool is working fine, it is not necessarily a “modernization” that must be addressed. Intrigued whether there is any similar sentiment among others or if they actually like the new version.
