Taskbars are automatically hidden when windows are maximized
I made the proactive choice to install Windows 11 on my computer before it was officially offered to me as an upgrade from Windows 10. However, I have encountered an issue where occasionally, a few days after restarting my computer, I notice that when I maximize windows on my primary or secondary iiyama monitors, they fill the entire screen instead of leaving the taskbar visible.
I am seeking advice on potential solutions to prevent this from happening. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Viv

The core problem you're describing—maximized windows covering the taskbar instead of stopping above it—typically happens when an application enters true full-screen mode rather than simply being "maximized." There's a technical distinction here: maximized windows normally respect the taskbar boundaries, while full-screen mode is designed to take over the entire display.

Go to the "Settings" app.
Click on "System" and select the "Recovery" option.
Click on the "Reset this PC" button.

In Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behavior, turn off the Automatically hide the taskbar option.
