Steam games freezing computer - Need assistance
Your issue sounds like a system freeze caused by hardware or driver instability, not Steam itself. With your specs this should not happen, so there are a few common points to check. First, check your GPU temperature and power behaviour using any monitoring tool. If the RTX 3070 is overheating or getting unstable power, the entire PC can freeze. Also make sure the GPU power cables are firmly connected. Second, consider the power supply. A weak or failing PSU often causes full system freezes during gaming. If the PSU is older or low wattage, it may not handle load spikes. Third, update the AMD chipset drivers directly from the AMD website, because outdated chipset drivers can cause freezes on Ryzen systems. Fourth, update your BIOS and try running your RAM without XMP or DOCP to rule out memory instability. Lastly, completely remove your NVIDIA drivers using DDU in Safe Mode and then reinstall the latest driver. This step alone fixes many full-freeze issues. If the problem only appears in demanding games, it is most likely GPU, PSU, or RAM related. Try the chipset update and clean GPU driver reinstall first, as those are usually the quickest fixes.
