Start with a Clean Boot on PC

I'm having issues with my PC and want to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot, but I'm not sure of the exact steps or what to expect afterward. Could someone walk me through the process and explain how to identify which startup service or app might be causing the problem?

  • Hi Mouela, for a clean boot, open System Configuration, hide all Microsoft services, then disable the remaining third-party services. After that, disable startup apps from Task Manager and restart. If the problem disappears, turn services back on in small groups until the issue returns. The last group you enabled usually contains the cause. Once you find the bad app or service, update it, uninstall it, or leave it disabled. Do not leave the PC in clean boot forever; use it only for testing.
