Solved Can't enter PIN to stop require password on wake from sleep
New PC (specs filled in). I wanted to stop it asking for my PIN on waking from sleep but when I try to change the option in Accounts/Sign-in Options/If you've been away etc. The Window comes up to check my PIN before it allows the change there it freezes. I get no response from my keyboard entry and nothing in Settings responds I have to use task manager to end Credentials Manager UI host which is stalled using over 20% of CPU resources. I've run DISSM commands and sfc /scannow but they find nothing. I've reported via feedback hub. Oh, I tried seach but it didn't come up with a similar thread.

It seems the Credentials Manager UI is causing the freeze. Here’s what you can try:
- Restart Credentials Manager: Open Services, find Credentials Manager, restart it, then try again.
- Remove PIN via netplwiz: Open netplwiz (search in Start), uncheck "Users must enter a username and password," and follow prompts to remove the PIN.
- Create a New User Account: Create a new local user and check if the issue persists there.
- Check for Updates: Ensure Windows and drivers are fully updated in Settings > Windows Update.
If none of these work, consider a repair install to fix potential system issues without losing your data.
