Snipping tool cannot save

Greetings,

for the past two weeks, my Snipping tool started giving me problems, it says the following whenever I try to snip a screen:

Screenshot copied to clipboard, but couldn't save
Select here to mark up and share the image

If I try to click the image, the Snipping tool opens and tells me:

Failed to open the file

Tried resetting it in Settings/Apps, but did not achieve anything.

Any ideas?

I discovered that you only get one chance to utilize it before having to restart it, and it automatically saves it to the screenshots.

I tried many complicated suggestions and none worked. It is easy:  my camera was storing photos in tthe Microsoft Windows 10 "Pictures" folder.  I changed the folder which broke Snip.

Go to the Pictures folder created by Windows (may need to view hidden system folder).

Right click the Location tab.  Click Restore default.  No reboot required.
