second monitor say invalid formate

Hi i installed a second monitor on to my windows 10 laptop, and by mistake changed the settings now when I plug the second monitor on the the laptop the laptop monitor goes black and the second monitor goes black and says invalid formate, I am unable to find a way to change this, please help

      There should be key combination like Fn-F6 or so depending on your laptop model that allow you to show your desktop on both the laptop screen and external display. When you press the combination a few times to achieve that, adjust the resolution and "refresh frequency" to match the setting of the secondary monitor. (Refresh frequency of CRT is usually 75Hz and that of LCD display is usually 60Hz. The frequency setting can be found under "advanced settings" -> "monitor" of "screen resolution" property)
