Right-clicking on a file causes Windows Explorer to crash

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue where the right mouse click (and touchpad click) functions properly in other applications like Excel, but when I click in Explorer, a busy symbol appears for about 2 seconds, and then Explorer disappears.

I am using Windows 11 Home 22H2 22621.2283, and all updates are current, with the last update occurring 14 days ago.

I have tried restarting Explorer from Task Manager, but the problem persists. I also had Windows search indexing turned off initially, turned it back on, rebooted, but the problem remains.

Additionally, I ran an anti-virus scan which did not find any issues, then uninstalled Open Shell, rebooted again, but the problem persisted.

I also ran an sfc /scannow command, which did not detect any problems.

Any assistance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Right-click on an empty area of the desktop and select Properties.
    2. In the Display Properties window, click on the Appearance tab.
    3. Click on the Effects button and ensure that Animate windows and Enable visual effects are not enabled.
    4. Restart your computer to see if this resolves the issue.
