PC on Insider Preview 26H2 ... Windows Update tries to install 25H2 and fails
Do not run a Windows 11 25H2 in-place repair over build 26300.8935. That setup would be moving to an older platform build, so it is not a supported repair path and may fail before preserving your apps and data. The Unenroll option also does not downgrade Windows immediately: on supported channels it queues leaving at the next public release; other Insider paths require a clean installation. First check Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program and note the channel and enrollment account. Compare the installed build with the latest flight for that channel. If you want to remain an Insider, keep the device enrolled, report the incorrect 25H2 offer in Feedback Hub, and obtain a newer same-channel build or ISO. If you must return to stable Windows now, back up everything and clean-install the current public release. I am having this issue as well, except each time i try to select get started under the inside program tab, it goes through the selections, restarts my PC, then shows get started under the Insdider pragram tab. When i contacted MS tech support, they tried to install Windows 11 through an ISO and the install failed.
I am using the 'Experimental Insider Experience' ... It seems that 26H2's current build is 26300.8935. It appears that I can download this build as an ISO ... but there isn't anything newer. My computer shows that my preview is expiring on 8/11/2026 ... just around the corner ... so would like to resolve the issue before that deadline. Do I perform an in-place with my current version or??
I am having the same issue and I wana enrole from insider programm too for my current device, I am unrolling as the battery consumption is too high from the time i joined what can I do.
