First, ensure that your laptop has the necessary hardware features to support a SIM card. The Dell Latitude 5490 typically has an option for mobile broadband. If your model does not have a mobile broadband module installed, then the SIM slot will not work.

Do you mean SIM card or SD card?

Hi,
If your SIM is not working on your Dell Latitude 5490 (i5 8th Gen, Windows 11 Pro), try these steps to fix the issue:
- Check Laptop Compatibility – Not all Dell Latitude 5490 models support SIM cards. Confirm if yours does.
- Reinsert the SIM Properly – Power off the laptop, remove and reinsert the SIM correctly.
- Enable WWAN in BIOS – Restart the laptop and check if the WWAN module is enabled in BIOS.
- Update or Install Drivers – Go to Device Manager > Network Adapters, find the modem, and update drivers.
- Check in Windows Settings – Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Cellular, and see if the SIM is detected.
- Try Another SIM Card – Test with a different SIM to check if the issue is with your SIM or laptop.
- Contact Your Network Provider – If the SIM is still not working, contact your service provider to check for any network issues.
Let me know if you need more help! 😊
