Message that, A newer build is available in Windows Update but Windows update does not show it.
I just had the same problem, and was also missing all the Windows Insider Programme settings, so I couldn't try switching channels, etc. I was able to solve both problems using these steps. Basically, run these commands in CMD then reboot:
bcdedit /set flightsigning on
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} flightsigning on
- ChriscyrekSep 26, 2023Copper ContributorThx G, that did it.
- stanjon83300Sep 07, 2021Copper ContributorI tried the steps listed above but I get an "access denied" error.
I am full admin and have restarted the system but no joy..- mom0f3Mar 30, 2024Copper ContributorI just received that same feedback. I am on an HP machine Home version and in Beta too.

mom0f3 disable the security settings as described, go to Update History and see if there are any un-installed updates there; if not, scroll to Uninstall Updates and uninstall any recent feature updates that might line up with when your issue appeared. If that doesn't work, go to Recovery (just below Un-installed Updates) and try 'Fix Problems without resetting your PC', then try 'Fix Problems using Windows Update'. Last ditch you can 'Reset this PC', be sure to 'Keep personal files' if you need anything.
Be sure to re-enable security settings should you have luck with any of this. 🙂
- Kwen MaoSep 10, 2021Copper ContributorTry running with cmd with administrator (not powershell)
- stanjon83300Sep 07, 2021Copper ContributorI finally got it to change successfully change but I still have no WIP options available and I am getting the popup that this version is about to expire with no available updates.
- stanjon83Sep 07, 2021Copper ContributorJust thought about this, The update issue did NOT start until I ran the fix for the taskbar issue that was tied to build 22449 prerelease this past week.
