Maximized Windows Changing Themselves to Restore State

PC about a year or so old. Strange behavior started a few days ago. Normally, I keep my three browser windows Maximized (Chrome, Firefox, Opera). Most other apps (Acrobat Reader, Office) are left in the Restore position so that they take up about a quarter of the screen.

My display is set to go standby at 20 minutes; the PC goes to sleep at two hours. Now, if the display is off and the PC on, all the Maximized windows revert to the Restore state. I have to Minimize then Maximize to get things back to where they belong. To my knowledge, I didn't change any settings. I rebooted the PC; no help. Thanks.

Fast Startup can sometimes cause issues with how applications are restored after waking from sleep. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable, then find Turn on fast startup (recommended) and uncheck it.
