I have the same / similar issue. Cannot see if it's the same update but the behavior is identical. I had to do some updates yesterday (laptop was working fine) and ever since can't boot anywhere.
- Safe mode doesn't work - it boots into startup repair regardless of safe mode with or without networking.
- Startup repair doesn't work - it just flips back to the repair home screen without prompting anything.
- SFC SCANNOW found issues but didn't resolve the problem.
- DISM cleanup did NOT work:
md D:\Temp
dism /Image:D:\ /Cleanup-Image /RevertPendingActions /ScratchDir:D:\Temp
ren D:\Windows\WinSxS\pending.xml pending.xml.old - No system restore available
- Cannot remove latest quality or feature updates
Going to try externally booting it somehow and seeing if emptying/removing SoftwareDistribution does anything.
Laptop is a 100% compatible Lenovo Yoga (brand new in 12-2024).
Edit: addition.
SoftwareDistribution folder renaming has no effect.
wusa /uninstall /kb:5055523 states that the update is not installed, so I may be running into a different issue with same results, although that's not yet 100% confirmed.
