Issue with Windows Defender on Windows 11
I cannot open any of the settings on windows defender, when i try to it tells me to look for a compatible app in the Microsoft Store. Is this a bug or some other (fixable) issue?
- Aug 07, 2021I had this problem on all machines updated from 19043.1151 to 22000.120.
This command from elevated PowerShell fixed the problem for me, try it and report the results:
Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

MICROSOFT !!! THIS IS A HIGH, HIGH, HIGH priority bug --- Windows Security essentially shut OFF.
We shouldn't have to stumble across this, to figure this out. Seriously, THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of machines likely have Windows Security disabled at he moment, because of this bug...

There is a new update for Windows 11 Insider , try update your Windows 11 and see if the problem persist?
If yes, open start and search for feedback and open Feedback Hub app and report this issue.

Reza_Ameri Laptop has all updates installed. "You are up to date"
I had already reported this as an issue -- thank you. Yes, people need to report this stuff...
This existed on my laptop, but not on my desktop... So... One of the upgrades must have messed up the Windows Defender installation.
The previous link to open Powershell as Admin and type the following command fixed the issue
Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage
Microsoft needs to pay attention to this... My machine was running without Windows Defender for a few weeks.
Microsoft, please fix this! HIGH PRIORITY!!! Most people don't likely know they are not protected. I'm quite upset about this - as how important an issue it is!!!
- Reza_AmeriAug 22, 2021Silver ContributorNote that Windows 11 is still under testing and development and that is why it is insider. Such issues are expected and it come with bugs and error and when you want to join the Windows Insider program, Microsoft will inform you never run it on production environment and device you are using because sometimes you might see errors where you won't be able to use your PC for a while until Microsoft fix it. Since you already reported this issue , Microsoft is aware of it and will fix it but you have to wait.
I advise anyone who is facing the same issue file a report or upvote the existing one.
