Is the new version of Windows Explorer frequently crashing?

After upgrading to the new version of File Explorer, opening “This PC” frequently gets stuck on the “Processing” screen and then crashes. The issue can be temporarily resolved by opening other folders first, but it reoccurs after closing them. Waiting for a system update did not resolve the issue, but reverting to the old version of File Explorer temporarily restored normal functionality.
