I want to prepare for Win12 in advance with PowerShell, and want PowerShell compatibility info

Thanks, I'm new here, and not as certain how far along the development team is.
That said, having language compatibility drawn out is certainly something they do have already, as that would be a component of the earliest designs, prior even to UI, and input, as that would need to be baked into the OS deeply such that it could be utilized to produce other features.
I wasn't aware that Microsoft was being as tight-lipped as you describe, though that is unfortunate, as I would have hoped they would have learned something from various Linux communities by now. 🙂
Version compatibility has been standard so far.
But I really wonder why the Windows 12 rumor has been so widespread?
At the earliest, it will be maybe in 2025, but problems with Windows11 - the next generation of processors, etc. Changing multiple computers is already a big problem!
Why would Microsoft introduce another version in such circumstances?
- Kyle_TMDec 26, 2023Copper ContributorThey can do a few things;
A] They can continue to update an OS they have already designed
B] They can introduce a new OS to replace the old one (more $ produced)
The biggest hurdle with [B] is user acceptance, primarily financially, as each version of Windows has become more and more burdensome financially speaking, largely due to it being more expensive to create more and more complex software.
SO they can [A] release Windows as they have in the past with larger modifications at a slower rate, or [B] Produce iterations of Windows more frequently.
I prefer [B], as the increased cadence will enable Microsoft to produce better quality, as the consumer is purchasing what may have previously been thought of as patches, admittedly the largest ones.
I honestly believe that Windows should be produced with an annual membership, for updates & upgrades, such as patches as well as versions, such that one who has a membership to 'Windows' can keep their computer up-to-date and/or upgrade their Windows to a newer version as soon as it is available;
They could also be able to remove links to hardware as they have been inclined to do in the past, because the membership fee would provide activation of various, preferred features.- DeletedDec 26, 2023
Windows is supposed to work for me - I don't have the money for more computers, I hope you understand that?
