  • Do an Update Restore. Click Start, Settings, Windows Update, Advanced Options, Recovery, Fix Problems Using Windows Update. Click on Reinstall Now. It will automatically start running Updating Service again.

    Hi IamAbhijeet,,

Based on the image you sent, it looks like Windows Update is paused on your PC. Unfortunately, there is no direct way to unpause Windows Update if you have reached the maximum pause time. However, there are a few things you can do to try to fix the issue:

    1. Restart your PC. This may seem like a simple solution, but it can often fix minor issues with Windows Update.
    2. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter. This tool can help to identify and fix common problems with Windows Update. To run the troubleshooter, go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. Then, under Find and fix other problems, select Windows Update and run the troubleshooter.
    3. Reset Windows Update. This will reset all of the Windows Update settings to their defaults. To reset Windows Update, open a command prompt window and run the following command:

    wuauclt.exe /updatenow

    1. Manually install the latest updates. If you are still unable to unpause Windows Update, you can try to manually install the latest updates. To do this, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ website and search for the updates that are available for your version of Windows. Once you have found the updates, download them and install them manually.

        Hi IamAbhijeet,

        Hi @IamAbhijeet,

I understand that you are unable to unpause Windows Update on your PC. Here are a few more things you can try:

        1. Boot into Safe Mode and try to unpause Windows Update. To do this, restart your PC and press the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu. Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter. Once you are booted into Safe Mode, try to unpause Windows Update through the Settings app.
        2. Reset the Windows Update components. To do this, open a command prompt window and run the following commands:

        net stop wuauserv
        net stop bits
        net stop cryptSvc
        ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
        ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
        net start wuauserv
        net start bits
        net start cryptSvc

        1. Manually install the latest updates. To do this, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ and search for the updates that are available for your version of Windows. Once you have found the updates, download them and install them manually.
        2. Restrat your PC
