Hp Omen 17 Laptop sometimes shuts off by itself
Step 1: Troubleshooting Overheating
Check the cooling system
Observe if the fan is functioning properly (you can listen to the sound or use HWMonitor to detect it)
Clean the dust from the air vents (compressed air is recommended)
2. Monitor the temperature
Download HWMonitor or OMEN Gaming Hub
Observe the CPU/GPU temperature while gaming (exceeding 95°C may trigger the protection)
3. Improve the heat dissipation
Use a Cooling Bracket
Limit the game frame rate (e.g. NVIDIA control panel to set a 60FPS limit)
4. Step 2: Power & Battery Check
Test different power modes
Select “High Performance” in Windows Power Options
Disable “Fast Startup” ( Control Panel > Power Options > Select Power Button Functions)
Check Battery Health
5. Administrator CMD run:
cmd
powercfg /batteryreport
View generated battery-report.html (focusing on design capacity vs. current capacity)
6. Try to remove the battery (if removable)
Test using only the power adapter to see if it is still shutdown
7. Step 3: System & Driver Repair
Update critical drivers
BIOS (download the latest version from HP official website)
Graphics card driver (NVIDIA/AMD official website, not Windows Update version)
Chipset driver (get it from HP support page)
