How to save twitter video to mp4 on Windows PC?

Hello, everyone!

I've recently seen some really interesting videos on Twitter that I'd like to download and save to my computer, but have absolutely no idea how to do it. As a tech newbie, I've tried several methods to save twitter videos to mp4 without success, so I'm here to ask you guys for advice!

The actual problems:

  1. The Twitter/X video link cannot be copied directly to the browser to download (it shows that it only has viewing privileges).
  2. Tried taking a screenshot with my mobile phone but the image quality is too poor to be practical.
  3. Not sure if Twitter has an official download feature or if a third party tool is required.

Methods tried

  1. Right-clicking on the video and trying to ‘save as’ (failed).
  2. Finding the URL of the video in the source code of the web page (but can't see how to extract it).

I would like simple steps for Windows/Mac. Please recommend a safe and reliable download tool to save Twitter/X video to mp4 on Windows PC.

Looking forward to your suggestions, thanks!

So you’re gearing up to save twitter videos to mp4 on your Windows PC? Nice choice! But before you dive in, here are a few things to keep in mind to make sure everything goes smoothly.

    1. When you’re using those online downloaders or software to save twitter to mp4 on PC, you might get a few options for quality. Higher quality usually means a bigger file size. If your PC’s storage is tight, you might wanna grab a lower resolution to save space. Trust me, I’ve filled my disk faster than I thought possible when saving random vids!

    2. Watch out for sketchy websites. Some video downloaders are riddled with ads or even malware. Stick to ones that have decent reviews and are commonly recommended. I’ve had a couple of close calls with sites that looked legit but ended up bombarding my PC with junk. Use your gut—if it feels off, don’t risk it!

    3. If you’re gonna download software like ClipGreb or V1C, make sure you’re getting it from the official sites. Sometimes, downloading from random sources can get you a version that’s infected or filled with bloatware. I’ve learned that the hard way before; always do a quick check to see what other people are saying about the software!

    4. Make sure the downloader you're using supports MP4, especially if that’s the format you want. Most tools do save twitter videos to mp4, but it’s good to double-check. I used to grab videos in formats that weren’t supported by my media player, and then there I was, stuck looking for a converter!

Disadvantages of using ClipGreb to save Twitter video to MP4 on Windows computer:

    1. Installation Hassle: First off, you need to download and install the software. For some folks, this is just an extra step that online tools skip altogether. Depending on your computer’s settings and antivirus, installation can sometimes be a headache.
    2. Updates & Compatibility: Like any software, ClipGreb might require updates from time to time. If a new version doesn’t play nice with your system or Windows updates, you could run into issues where it just won’t work, and then you’re stuck.
    3. Limited Features: ClipGreb is mainly about downloading videos. When you want to save Twitter video to MP4 on Windows computer. If you want more features like editing, converting to other formats, or even trimming, you might end up needing another tool anyway.

If you’re worried about those downsides, you might want to check out alternatives or Microsoft-related tools. One option could be using Microsoft Photos; you can import videos directly if they’re in your Media folder.
Here’s a quick solution if you prefer an even simpler method:

    • Browser Extensions: There are extensions for Chrome and Firefox, like "Video DownloadHelper," that let you grab media without needing to install dedicated software.
    • Microsoft Edge: If you use Edge, you can take advantage of web capture features for quick clips or screenshots. While this won't save a full video, it might help in some cases.
    • Windows Game Bar: If you don't mind recording rather than downloading, you can use the built-in Windows Game Bar (press Win + G) to record your screen while the video plays. It’s simple, and you won’t need to install anything extra.
