How to restore or fix old blurry photos on a windows pc?

I have a collection of old family photos that are scanned but quite blurry. I need to fix them on my Windows PC. My computer is modern, but I have no experience with photo repair. Could you recommend...

Tool Download and Installation

  • Download GLxMP

  • Install the G'LxMIC Plugin

Step-by-Step Restoration Tutorial 

  • Open GIxMP and import the blurred vintage photograph requiring restoration.

  • Click the top menu bar  Filters → Select G'MIC-QT.

  • For scratches: In the pop-up window, choose Repair → Inpainting (Smart) to mend imperfections.

  • For blurred areas: Select ‘Enhance → Sharpen [Fuzzy]’ to improve image clarity.

  • For faded colours: Choose ‘Colours → Auto-adjust RGB’ to restore natural hues.

  • After completing settings, click ‘Apply’ to save the restored photograph.
