How to recover data from a corrupted flash drive on Windows PC?
- Aug 13, 2024
I had this problem with my USB before. When I plugged it in, it prompted to format and all the files were gone. Later, I used AisseeSoft Data Recovery and actually recovered most of the files. It was a lifesaver! I suggest you don't format it, try this tool!
I followed this tutorial: (it works well.)

I’ve dealt with a corrupted flash drive before, and the first thing I did was stop using it immediately so the data doesn’t get overwritten. If Windows still detects it, try plugging it into another port or PC first. Sometimes it’s just a file system error. Then you can try using a data recovery tool to scan the drive and recover files. If the drive is showing as “RAW” or asking to format, don’t format it right away run recovery first. If nothing works and the drive is not opening at all, then it might be physically damaged, and in that case professional recovery is usually the last option.
