How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

I agree as I have the same issue. My Windows 10 workflow usually has 8-10 windows open and ungrouped so I can see the labels/names. So, it is a very important feature for me to have the ability to increase the taskbar height, so it shows two rows of taskbar items. As a power user I lose time digging and trying to find where my window went.
With windows 11 I lose both the ability to ungroup (i.e. never combine taskbar buttons) and to increase the taskbar height to have more rows for windows. This is a feature since Windows XP and sadly a loss of productivity that will keep me from upgrading to Windows 11.
I get why they did this for most basic users to be simpler and Mac like, but it is a loss of features and productivity for power users.
- kamran_qadirCopper ContributorWe need this feature back, I have upgraded to Windows 11 and now want to downgrade back to Windows 10 due to missing this feature.

Pls do bring back the "never combine taskbar buttons" and "icon labels" features and support for dragging and dropping to another app in the taskbar. Many users are actually using the os as their daily driver and removing these features actually reduces productivity! We don't need a gimped user interface just to make things easier for smaller displays or aesthetic reasons! Stop removing productivity features for the sake of merging things together!

Bring it back PLEASE!
- FlashiBrass ContributorJust tried windows 11 for 3o minutes then uninstalled it, I was very disappointed with important missing features in the taskbar that is killing my work flow and productivity
1. NO NEVER COMBINE OPTION
2. CAN'T DRAG AND DROP TO ANOTHER APP IN THE TASKBAR
I really don't know how are they thinking- Tasos_FokasCopper Contributor
Flashi you can drag and dop to another app. Just pick the document (hold with your mouse), alt-tab and select second app. Drop it there.
- FlashiBrass Contributoryeah, alt-tapping through 10 or 15 opened apps while dragging will be a walk in the park
- jedievan4Iron ContributorSo has Microsoft fixed this yet? This is definitely s dealbreaker for me.
- FalconGreyBrass ContributorUnless I 'modify' my system and open it up to destabilization... This has greatly reduced productivity. As a writer, I am greatly dependent on 3 different screens on my desktop with multiple windows open on all three screens. With the taskbar in always combine mode I can no longer easily tell what the windows are at a glance and must either hover the mouse over the combined icon or alt-tab then hover the mouse over the tab to determine what the window is! This is greatly slowing down what I am looking for before I can switch over to that window to continue working... Please, bring back the 'Combine when the taskbar is full' option or the 'never combine' option! Either one would greatly increase my productivity! I'm about ready to revert back to Windows 10 Pro because of how horrible of an upgrade Windows 11 Pro has been on the productivity. This is as if the developers were intentionally trying to sink Windows 11 in the water on release.
- Mark_FletcherCopper ContributorYou're trying too hard with Edge, and getting it wrong. Besides the failures with signing in, and the loss of IE11, you've now killed the option to select how to combine taskbar buttons. What's going on MS?
- rade-64Brass ContributorFor me, I have 2 rows of tasks and I like to see what is open. I have say 5 documents open, 10 web pages, 3 visual studios, 5 notepads files, 6 folders open. I want to have one click to focus on any task. I log how many context switches I have in a day and it is about 1000 so this is something i do a lot. Not having this feature is a show stopper for me. Moving to windows 11 will be a huge hit on productivity.
