How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- Jul 30, 2024The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

I don't understand what Microsoft did here. OK, so you want a clean look in Windows 11 and you think that newbie users are going to like just having a button and not being able to see the name of the app. I disagree, but ok.
BUT WHY TAKE AWAY THE OPTION TO CHANGE IT? Leave the option in. It doesn't hurt Microsoft to have the option there, and you just annoyed hundreds of millions of power users. How did you think this was a good choice? If I wanted a Mac, I'd buy a Mac. Put the option back, please.

Some "USER EXPERIENCE" person is responsible for this, but CLEARLY they have NO real user experience to draw from ... Every time one of these notifications hits my email (multiple a day) I lose a little more respect for MS.
- MNNick183Oct 07, 2022Brass ContributorI'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. I get more irritated with every notification I get (and not bc of the notification) and given we're on page 40 of these comments I'm quickly losing my loyalty to Microsoft. I have always been a go MS with as much as you can type person, I'm starting to second guess that.

I bought Start11, a third party program, and it allows for previous version of your taskbar and Start menu, and much customization. It costs a one time payment of around $5 USD. I would just solve the issue yourself with a program like that or a hack given by others instead of waiting on them to react to feedback. Windows 11 has been a thing for a while with this being a known, and ignored problem.- Rich5555Oct 08, 2022Iron Contributor
that’s very true, there are a few apps that can work around the problem but I still prefer to stay with Wndows10 as it gives the task bar options we’re looking for without any tweaking. And by using Windows11 we’re all increasing the take up of the new OS which tells Microsoft they’ve got it right, when they haven’t. We shall see in 2025 what the options are when Win10 support ends.
