How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- Jul 30, 2024The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.
Microsoft do not seem to understand that people work primarily on documents, and that the programs used to do that work are secondary. If I am creating a report it might be in Word, Excel, PowerPoint or something else, and that is largely irrelevant - grouping by program is a value-less distraction and cuts productivity.
Let me see what I am working on, not just the tools I am using to do that work.
In the past, MS based decisions on analytic data from users (putting the "undo" shortcut in the Word toolbar, etc.), but this was only from users NOT smart enough to realise that this sort of snooping was an invasion of privacy and had not disabled it.
In other words, their diagnostic analysis was based on bottom end users ONLY and excluded almost all corporate and power-users. I suspect they have done the same here.
