How to create sonoma bootable disk on Windows PC or Mac?
Mist is a completely free and open source macOS application to create macOS bootable USB including Sonoma. It downloads the macOS Sonoma installer and creates a bootable USB through a graphical interface without command line operation, which is suitable for novice users and users who want to avoid command line operation, and simplifies the whole process by providing one-stop support for making Mac Sonoma bootable in straightforward way.
Step 1: Download and Install Mist
Please download this free app from Github and install it on your Mac.
Step 2. Prepare the USB flash drive
Insert a USB flash drive with a capacity of at least 16GB and open Disk Utility. In the Disk Utility interface, select the USB flash drive and tap the Erase option.
In the pop-up setting window, you can fill in the name as you like; select Mac OS Extended (Log) as the format; select GUID Partition Map as the scheme. When the settings are finished, click Wipe and exit Disk Utility when the operation is finished.
Step 3. Download macOS Sonoma installer
In the Mist interface, tap Download tab. Select macOS Sonoma, tap Download, and wait for the download to complete
Step 4. Create Bootable USB
In the Mist interface, switch to the Create Bootable Installer tab.Select the macOS Sonoma installer you just downloaded, select the USB flash drive in the drop-down menu, tap Create, confirm the prompt to erase the USB, and wait for about 10-15 minutes for Mist to finish creating it automatically.
Step 5. Verify and Eject USB
Once completed, the USB flash drive is renamed to Install macOS Sonoma. Right-click Eject USB in Finder to safely remove it.
