How to Convert QuickTime Video to MP4 on a Windows PC
Converting QuickTime videos to MP4 on Windows PC isn’t too complicated, but there are definitely a few common mistakes you can make along the way. From my experiences, a rookie mistake is just clicking “convert” without checking the settings. You might be okay with the default options, but they could be cranking out a huge file size or low quality. Make sure you set things like resolution, bitrate, and frame rate according to your needs. Don’t worry, it sounds complicated, but it’s often just a few clicks to set this stuff up properly!
Sometimes, the audio doesn’t convert the way you expect it to. It might end up out of sync, or you might end up losing it altogether. Double-check the audio settings in whichever software you choose. For example, in VIC, make sure the audio codec is set to a common one like AAC, so you don't mess it up.
MP4 is great because it’s widely compatible. However, if your original QuickTime video uses a codec that doesn’t play well with MP4, you could run into trouble. Again, using programs like HandBrake can help with this since they support a variety of codecs. Make sure your codec settings align with what MP4 uses.
After conversion, always make sure to watch your new MP4 file. It’s tempting to just save and forget, but you’d hate to find out it didn’t convert properly after you’ve deleted the original. Give it a quick once-over to catch any issues early!
