How do I monitor employee computer activity?
I work remotely from the Philippines as a VA/admin assistant for a construction company with both field workers and office staff across multiple locations.
One of the biggest challenges for us wasn't just productivity monitoring. It was having enough visibility into both attendance and remote work activity while keeping records accurate.
Before, we were manually checking spreadsheets, Teams messages, and edited timesheets for almost every cutoff. Managers also had very little visibility into what remote staff were actually working on throughout the day.
The company already used Microsoft 365, Windows policies, and standard access controls for the IT/security side. For attendance and team management, we moved to Jibble.
For remote administrative staff like me, the desktop app could capture screenshots during tracked work hours, which gave managers a way to verify work activity without having to constantly message employees for updates. At the same time, clock-ins, approvals, and timesheets made admin processing much easier.
For field workers moving between sites, GPS timestamps helped managers verify where clock-ins happened, while office-based staff had activity visibility through the desktop app.
The audit history also ended up being useful because managers could review edits and corrections without comparing multiple spreadsheet versions manually.
For our setup, the combination of attendance records and activity visibility worked much better than trying to rely on spreadsheets, chat messages, or occasional remote desktop checks.
