How do I create installation media for Windows 11?
DISM- Using DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) to create installation media for Windows 11 is a more advanced approach typically used by IT professionals and developers. DISM allows you to customize Windows images, such as adding drivers or updates, but it is not designed to create bootable installation media directly.
Here's how DISM fits into the process:
- Preparing the Windows 11 ISO: You can mount the Windows 11 ISO and extract its contents.
- Customizing the Image: Using DISM, you can mount the Windows image (install.wim) within the ISO and add or modify files, drivers, or features before creating your customized installation media.
- Rebuilding the ISO: After customization, you can use tools to recreate a bootable ISO.
Please note: DISM alone does not create bootable media. It is used for image servicing and customization. To create the actual installation media, you'd still need to make the ISO bootable and write it to a USB drive using tools.
Using DISM when you are going to create installation media for Windows 11 is useful for customizing the Windows image before making the media, but it is not a standalone solution for creating bootable installation media. It is part of a more advanced, multi-step process.
