How can I retrieve deleted messages on android phone from my pc?

Hello all,

I accidentally deleted some important text messages on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and now I'm trying to figure out if there's any way to recover deleted messages on my Android phone using my Windows 11 PC. The phone is still working normally, but I didn't make a manual backup before the messages were removed.

Is there any reliable method or software that can help to retrieve deleted messages on android phone from a Windows computer? Do I need to enable USB debugging first, or is there a way to restore from Samsung Cloud or Google backup using a computer? I'm not familiar with Android data recovery tools as well.

How to retrieve deleted text messages on Android? I need to be upfront with you: completely free recovery of deleted messages without a backup is extremely difficult, and most tools claiming to be "free" have significant limitations .

    Here's why:

    • When you delete messages, they're marked as "available space" on your phone
    • If you've been using your phone normally since deleting them, new data may have already overwritten those messages
    • Most recovery tools only let you scan and preview for free—actual recovery requires payment

What About SMS Backup & Restore?

About how to retrieve deleted text messages on Android. SMS Backup & Restore is excellent, but it only works if you already have a backup . Since you didn't create one before deleting your messages, this won't help you now—but I strongly recommend installing it afterward to prevent this situation in the future

Here's what I recommend doing if you are going to retrieve deleted messages on Android phone, in order:

    1. First: Immediately check the Trash folder in your Messages app . This is the quickest and easiest possibility.

    2. Second: Go to Samsung Cloud on your phone and see if a message backup exists . If it does, you can restore from there (just remember it will replace current messages).

    3. Third: If those don't work and you're determined to try recovery software, enable USB Debugging and try one of the free tools mentioned above. Just go in knowing that completely free, full recovery is unlikely .

You'll find many websites promising "free Android message recovery software" . Here's what you need to understand before trying these:

How to retrieve deleted messages on Android phone: These programs scan your phone's internal storage for traces of deleted data that haven't been overwritten yet .

The reality: Completely free recovery is very rare. Most tools that claim to be free either limit how much you can recover or only let you see the deleted messages, not actually restore them without paying.

They often require USB debugging to be enabled on your phone . This is a developer setting that allows your computer to communicate deeply with your phone . If you haven't enabled this before, you can still turn it on now since your phone is working normally.

Success is not guaranteed. If you've been using your phone normally since deleting the messages, new data may have already overwritten the space where your deleted messages were stored.

If you want to retrieve deleted messages on Android phone:

    1. On your phone, go to Settings > About Phone > tap Build Number seven times to unlock Developer Options .
    2. Go back to Settings > Developer Options > enable USB Debugging .
    3. Connect your phone to your PC with a USB cable.
    4. Download a reputable tool and follow the on-screen instructions to scan for deleted messages.

If you've previously set up Samsung Cloud on your Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, you might be able to retrieve  deleted messages on Android phone using this method. This approach requires you to have enabled Samsung Cloud backup before the messages were deleted.

Step 1: Check Samsung Cloud Backup

    • On your Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud.
    • Tap Restore data.
    • Look for a backup that was created before the messages were deleted.
    • If such a backup exists, proceed to restore.

Step 2: Retrieve deleted messages on Android phone (Samsung Cloud)

    • Tap on Messages or select Select data to restore.
    • Confirm and begin the restoration process. Wait for the process to complete.
    • Your deleted messages should be restored if they were included in the backup.

Step 3: Connect Your Phone to Windows 11 Using Android File Transfer

    • To manage or verify your data, you can use Android File Transfer for Windows 11:
    • Download and install Android File Transfer from the official website.
    • Connect your Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to your Windows 11 PC via USB cable.
    • Open Android File Transfer, which will detect your device. Browse through your device’s storage or backup folders for relevant data related to your messages.

    Important Notes:

Samsung Cloud backups need to be made before the messages were deleted; otherwise, this method won’t recover lost data.

Restoring data from Samsung Cloud might overwrite current data on your device, so proceed carefully.

If Samsung Cloud backup was not enabled before deletion, consider using third-party recovery tools or contacting professional data recovery services.
