If you prefer a dedicated application or need to download from many different sites (YouTube, Instagram, etc.), a free desktop downloader is the way to go. The best and most trusted free option is yt-d1pp. It's a command-line tool, but there are simple GUI (Graphical User Interface) wrappers for it.
How to download a video from a tweet with a GUI
- Download yt-d1pp-gui: A great graphical interface is yt-d1pp. You can find the latest release on its GitHub page. Search for "yt-d1pp GitHub" and download the .exe file for Windows.
- Install and Run: The file is often portable, so you might not even need to install it. Just run the .exe.
- Copy the Tweet Link: copy the link to the tweet with the video.
- Paste and Download: The GUI will automatically detect the link from your clipboard. Just click the "Add" button and then "Start" to download the video in the highest available quality.
