Has Microsoft done something to mess up Microsoft accounts in the past week or so?

I am having all kinds of Microsoft account validation issues over the past few days on multiple devices. As an example, just 5 minutes ago, I got a notification saying that there is a problem with my account and it asks me to log back into my Microsoft account. But the moment I try to logon I get this:

On the other machines I had to spend at least an hour each time trying to sort this bologna out, and in the end I actually have no idea what actually resolved it. But the symptoms are a bit different each time.

This stuff has got to get fixed. That error indicates there were "too many requests" but I have not been in front of this machine all day. I literally tried to logon one time and one time only, yet I get this rubbish.

Microsoft has acknowledged some issues with their authentication services, which seem to be impacting users across various platforms. The problems started around July 25, 2024, and have been reported by multiple users on various Microsoft services, including Outlook, Xbox, and Microsoft Teams.

Recent reports (from just a few days ago) suggest that the underlying identity platform is still experiencing "glitches" for some users, causing loops and errors. If you install the update and still have issues on the web, you likely just need to wait a few hours for Microsoft to stabilize their servers.

. This is a significant backend change that affects how third-party apps and even some Microsoft services authenticate. While this primarily impacts developers and backup solutions, authentication changes at this scale can sometimes cause ripple effects across the entire Microsoft account ecosystem.
