Easy Anti Cheat Crashing PC

Hi There,

I am currently on Windows 11 Build Version 23H2 OS Build 22635, 4076

I have Easy Anti Cheat installed on my PC for games like Rust and Fortnite etc. However when i open a game, it will stay open for about 5 minutes then give me the BSOD with Error Code KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and failed application is EasyAntiCheat_EOS.sys.

I have created an exception in my Avast Antivirus due to it taking game clients out of their install folder when I try to start the games that require EAC. I have updated windows to the latest insider build of windows 11 (Insider Preview 10.0.22635.4076 [KB5041873] ni_release)and then done a system retore deleting the most resent quality update after i found out this didn't help. I have updated BIOS, Game Ready Drivers and Chipset CPU drivers. I have even tried reinstalled the game on another SSD.

I have deleted EAC from the install folder in Rust and the EAC folder in ProgramFiles(x86), I have also deleted it from registry editor to delete any trace and try to do a fresh install.

When I proceed to open EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe Setup file, it will open for a split second and then close. I have tried running as and admin etc and revalidating files via steam.

I can exit the Insider program and do a fresh install of the latest major build of windows however this erases all my data so this is not ideal.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Eddie.

  • I tried reverting back to past updates and security patches but the only thing that fixed it for me was a fresh windows reinstall, I just copied everything to a spare HDD and reinstalled Windows.
