VL1C Media Player is widely recognized for its ability to play virtually any media format, but what most users don’t know is that it can also stream, download, and even convert yooutube to MP3. This lesser-known capability makes it a handy tool if you don’t want to install third-party YouTube downloaders.

Part 1: Get the Raw Video Stream

Open the Media Player.

Go to Media > Open Network Stream.

Paste the YouTube video URL and hit Play.

After the video starts playing, go to Tools > Codec Information.

Copy the full Location link at the bottom — this is the direct stream URL.

Paste this link into your web browser and download the video file (right-click > Save As).

Part 2: Convert to MP3

Once downloaded, go back to VL1C.

Go to Media > Convert / Save.

Add the downloaded file.

Click Convert / Save, choose Audio – MP3 as the profile.

Set a destination filename and click Start.

Note: For newer YouTube formats (DASH, encrypted streams), this method may fail. You should use other youtube mp3 converter instead.
