I've given up on the Windows Insider Program. This was literally my first experience with the program and needless to say, it left a terrible taste in my mouth. I have no desire to receive Windows Insider updates if they're going to compromise my OS.

For a company that makes so much money, this is seriously, amazingly pathetic. They should be putting their users first and this embarrasingly obvious oversight only emphasizes Microsoft's incompotence with running a program like this. If someone didn't get fired over this, it wouldn't surprise me. Microsoft has always struggled with looking internally. There low standards for user satisfaction has destroyed my trust in them.

I resolved this by turning unenrolling in the Windows Insider program, rebooting, and running Windows update again. The 22610 update hung in Windows update, locking up my ability to check for new updates. I overcame this by clicking the "Pause for 1 week" button and then clicking it again to unpause it. This made the 22610 update disapear from my frozen Windows update session. I was then able to check for updates again and it began downloading a non-Insider cummulative update and all is well again.
