for me no  0x800f0983 but 0x8007042B - 0x2000D - Installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA Operation.

Being unable to update, I switched to Windows Insider Beta Canal, and the update to Version    10.0.26220 Build 26220 succeeded.  I just do not know if I'll stay in Beta Canal or rollback to standard distribution when it'll be possible.

For me no error code 0x800f0983, but  error 0x8007042B - 0x2000D - Installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA Operation.

I'm now trying to switch to windows insider beta, to try to jump over this failing update. I'll keep u posted here.

Same error. Did you succeed in fixing this. Support tells me to do a clean install from the iso, but I would loose my apps.

The error code 0x800f0983 and the issues you've described suggest a deeper problem with the Windows component store or system files that is preventing the update from completing successfully. Since you've already tried common troubleshooting steps like SFC, DISM, chkdsk, and even in-place reinstallation.
