- Jan 03, 2025
I had the same issue with YouTube playlists—so many videos and no easy way to save them. I tried a few tools and ended up using AIIClipDon. It’s super straightforward, supports batch downloads, and exports in MP4 with great quality. Perfect for Windows 11.
I followed this tutorial, worked for me.

If you don't want to use any third-party tools to download YouTube playlists to Windows 11 computers, you can actually use YouTube Premium, browser caching technology, and Windows' built-in screen recording function to achieve your needs. Here are a few methods I summarized. Although they are a little time-consuming, they are all solutions that do not require the installation of additional software. I hope these methods can help you better complete download YouTube playlist to computer.
Method 1: Use the official offline function of YouTube Premium
Applicable scenarios: You are willing to subscribe to YouTube Premium and mainly use it to watch videos offline in the YouTube App.
Steps:
- Go to the YouTube Premium page and select a suitable subscription plan according to your needs (sometimes there is a free trial period).
- Open the YouTube website or mobile app and find the playlist you want to download.
- On the playlist page, click the "Download" button (the small icon next to the playlist), select the required definition (1080p or below), and the system will save the video to the App memory.
- After the video is downloaded, you can watch it offline at any time through the "Download" area of the YouTube App.
Advantages:
- Officially supported, safe and reliable. Videos are high-definition, with a choice of 720p or 1080p.
- Downloads are ad-free for offline playback.
Cons:
- Downloaded videos can only be played through the YouTube app and cannot be exported to other players.
- Subscription fees are required (although you can try it out with a free trial period first).
Method 2: Download YouTube playlist video files using browser cache
Applicable scenarios: You need to save video files separately and have a little patience for technical operations.
Steps:
- Open the browser (Chrome or Edge is recommended), go to YouTube, and play the first video in the playlist.
- Pause the video and let it buffer completely to ensure that the entire video is loaded (be careful not to close the page).
- Right-click the page and select "Inspect" or press F12 to enter the developer tools interface.
- Find the video cache file
- Click the "Network" tab at the top.
- Enter .mp4 or .video in the filter box to locate the video file cache.
- Right-click the file and select "Open in New Tab" or "Save As" to save the video to your computer.
- Load the videos one by one in the order of the playlist and save the files until the entire playlist is downloaded.
Advantages:
No additional software is required, and the operation can be completed directly using the browser.
Can be exported to standard MP4 format, suitable for all players.
Disadvantages:
- Manual operation is cumbersome, and each video needs to be buffered and downloaded separately.
- Some browsers may limit the direct saving of video files, so you need to try patiently.
Method 3. Use the "Save Media" feature of the Edge browser to quickly save videos
If you are using the Microsoft Edge browser and want to quickly save YouTube playlist to your local computer, you can try this experimental feature. Although this feature is still being tested in some versions, it is very convenient to operate and can directly complete the needs of downloading YouTube playlist to computer.
- Open the YouTube playlist, find the video you want to save, and play it with Edge.
- Right-click the video player and check if there is a "Save Video" option (currently supported by some Edge versions).
- If you see "Save Video", just click it and Edge will save the video locally (usually in MP4 format).
- Repeat the operation for each video in the playlist until the entire YouTube playlist downloader task is completed.
Pros:
- No need to install other tools, the whole process can be operated in the Edge browser.
- The saving speed is fast, and the generated file is in standard MP4 format, which is compatible with all players.
- It is very suitable for users who want to quickly complete the download YouTube playlist to computer.
Disadvantages:
- This feature is not currently supported by all Edge versions, so make sure your browser is the latest version.
- Similar to other manual methods, you need to save the videos in the playlist one by one.
If you are using the new Edge browser and want to achieve the function of YouTube playlist downloader in a simple way, this experimental tool is definitely worth a try! Check out if your Edge supports this feature!
Hopefully, these methods can help you complete your YouTube playlist download to computer needs! Choose the method that works best for you based on the time and the number of videos you have!
