spotify2mp3: This is a community-built PowerShell script that uses spot dl to download music. It reads your Spotify playlist's link and downloads the matching songs from Music, then tags them with Spotify's metadata.

How to get Spotify downloader to MP3:

1. Download the script from GitHub (search "simongendre spotify2mp3")

2. Edit the text files to add your playlist links

3. Run the PowerShell script

What you need to know:

  • Completely free and open-source
  • Requires installing spot dl first
  • Works on Windows via PowerShell
  • Downloads from YouTube—quality matches YouTube's audio, not Spotify's

 

The catch: You're not downloading from Spotify at all—you're downloading from YouTube and tricking your MP3 tags to look like Spotify. Quality varies, and obscure songs might not exist on YouTube.

Before committing to a Spotify downloader to MP3, check if it allows you to select output bitrate. 320kbps is the standard for high-quality MP3s. Avoid tools that don't specify their output quality—they're likely delivering low-bitrate files.
