Keka is a popular free and open-source file archiver for Mac that allows you to compress, extract, and encrypt files and folders. While it is primarily designed for creating compressed archives, it also supports password protection and encryption, which can be used to lock folders securely.
How to use the folder locker for Mac:
1. Download Keka from the official website.
2. Install Keka by dragging it into your Applications folder.
3. Encrypt and lock a folder:
- Open Keka.
- Choose the archive format (e.g., 7z or ZIP). ZIP supports password protection but may have weaker encryption.
- Set a strong password in the options.
- Drag the folder you want to lock into Keka's window or right-click the folder and choose "Compress with Keka."
- Keka will create an encrypted archive of the folder.
4. Accessing your locked folder:
- To open the folder, double-click the encrypted archive.
- Enter the password to extract or view its contents.
If you want a true folder locker for Mac, consider encrypting the archive with strong encryption or using dedicated encryption software.
