win10 system freezes with solid random color on monitor

System freezes usually 10 or 20 min after reboot and a random solid color appears on monitor. Ctrl-alt-del does not work. I power off and then reboots successfully. The system is alive with all apps working until it happens again. I looked through the event logs and did not find any applicable errors. I had to reboot several times over a 2 day period. The first time it happened I was watching youtube and when the event occurred the audio got stuck and played the same sound byte over and over again while the monitor displayed a solid color.

Experiencing system freezes and graphical anomalies can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. **Update Graphics Drivers:** Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can often cause graphical glitches and system freezes. Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) and download the latest drivers for your specific model.

    2. **Monitor Temperatures:** Overheating can lead to system instability. Use monitoring software to keep an eye on your CPU and GPU temperatures. If they're consistently running hot, consider cleaning out dust from your computer's components and ensuring proper airflow.

    3. **Check RAM and Storage:** Faulty RAM or storage can cause system freezes. Run a memory diagnostic tool to check for any RAM issues. Also, ensure your hard drive or SSD is in good health using diagnostic software.

    4. **Check for Malware:** Malware or viruses can cause unexpected system behavior. Run a full system scan using a reputable antivirus program.

    5. **Check Event Logs Again:** While you didn't find relevant errors initially, it's worth revisiting the event logs after the freeze occurs. Look for critical or error events that might point to the root cause.

    6. **Test in Safe Mode:** Booting your computer into Safe Mode can help determine if the issue is related to third-party software or drivers. If your system runs stably in Safe Mode, it suggests that the problem might be caused by a driver or application.

    7. **Hardware Diagnostics:** Many computers come with built-in hardware diagnostic tools. Use these tools to perform comprehensive tests on your hardware components, including CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage.

    8. **Check for Windows Updates:** Ensure your operating system is up to date with the latest patches and updates from Microsoft.

    9. **Check for Third-Party Software Conflicts:** If you've recently installed any new software or updates, they could be causing conflicts. Consider uninstalling or rolling back these changes to see if the problem persists.

    10. **Graphics Card Stability Test:** Run a graphics card stability test, like FurMark, to stress-test your GPU and see if it causes crashes or artifacts.

    11. **Check Power Supply:** A failing or inadequate power supply unit (PSU) can lead to system instability. Ensure your PSU is providing stable power to all components.

    12. **Reseat Components:** Reseat your RAM, graphics card, and any other expansion cards to ensure they're properly connected.

If you've tried these steps and the issue persists, it might be worth seeking professional help or contacting technical support for assistance. Keep track of when the freezes occur and any patterns you notice; this information could be valuable in identifying the underlying cause.

    Are you using Windows Insider?
Have you install all updates for Windows?
Make sure report this issue using the Feedback Hub app.
Try performing Clean Boot and see if the problem persists?

      No win insider

Yes all win up to date

I have to clean boot every time it happens.

It started happening only a few days ago and no new s/w was added or changed. This never happened before.
