Proactive driver updates

Question for all you Windows management experts.  Is proactively updating drivers on all my org's Windows 10/11 devices on a quarterly basis, or is it asking for trouble? Should we just be updating drivers reactively, when we know there are issues with old versions?

What do you do?

thanks!

Thanks Kevin. When we've started using Intune to manage Windows, we'll look at this. This was more general - is the risk of updating drivers (irrespective of the deployment method) worth taking?

There is Drivers management on Intune. I would suggest to follow the rings (Test, Pilot, Prod). This is what we do and it works well.

In general installing the latest update is always recommended as they have improvement and bug fixes. However, it is recommended to deploy update on few devices and observe and see if everything is okay, then expand to larger number of devices and then continue this process until update all devices.

Welcome, you may start by deploying on sample of devices which are widely used in your organization and then expand it and test it. There is no general formula but when you try and observe , you will learn the best approach.
